Food processing applications: Crushing and pressing near-expiry/expiry foods, beet pulp extrusion separation

2026-03-25

Food processing applications:

Food processing generates a large amount of residue, such as vegetable scraps, food waste, and fruit peels. A screw press uses compression to squeeze out the water from this residue. The rotation of the screw shaft continuously compresses the residue within the pressing chamber, and the water is discharged through the press’s drain holes or filter screen, thus reducing the moisture content of the residue.

Near-expiry/expired food crushing, pressing and separation:

When processing near-expiry or expired food products, valuable components can be recovered. For example, expired fruit juice can be separated using a screw press, and this recovered juice can be used to make fertilizer, feed additives, etc. The solid portion can also be used as composting material, achieving resource recycling.

Beet pulp extrusion separation:

Beet pulp requires further processing, such as for industrial applications like fiberboard and papermaking, where dehydrated beet pulp better meets processing requirements. Generally, after processing with a screw press dewatering machine, the moisture content of beet pulp can be reduced from 80%-90% to around 55%-60%, improving its storage stability.
